When I need to find out new information fast I always go to google.com. It is the easiest and quicket way to find the information I need. I just type in the keywords for my search and any links related to my topic pop up. The harder part is filtering through all of the given information on what is fact and what is garbage.
Before listening to Marcus Buckingham's video describing strength focus, I reflected on figuring out my own strengths and the areas I feel weakest in. Both in and outside of work one of my strengths is teamwork and thinking of others. In most situations I am thinking of the well-being of the group or other individuals before myself. This is usually a good thing, but sometimes it can back fire. No matter the situation, I find myself thinking of how someone else will be affected. This strength can also relate to my weakness. My whole life I have hated confrontations. They have been my biggest weakness of all. I would and do try as much as possible to avoid confrontations. It feels like my brain just freezes in the middle of any confrontation and I lose any confidence I thought I maintained. Then almost every time after a confrontation is when my brain wakes up and I think of all things I should have said. I have had a twitter account for a couple of years now, but have only posted on it maybe twice. This will be my first time really getting into tweeting regularly and searching via twitter. I believe it is important to have a twitter account in education/athletics. This allows the educator or coach to keep viewers updated on upcoming events and for the educator to get important information out. Follow me on twitter @shannyrb22
Questions:
1. What PWP of an educator do you feel do a good job of representing him or her? 2. What do you like about their PWP? 3. What do you think could be improved? 4. How do you feel this person chose to represent themselves on the Web? Is the PWP professional, personal, or both? 5. What features of this PWP would you copy, and which ones would you change? A couple PWP's that I feel do a good job representing themselves are CSUMB's Athletic Director, Kirby Gary and my mentor with The Alpha Project, Strength & Conditioning Specialist Paul Cater. I like that both show a good balance of a personal and professional image. It allows the viewers to get a glimpse of their personal lives, but not too much, while still maintaining a professional image. Hello, my name is Shannon Bailey. I was born and raised in Lancaster, CA. Growing up I was always into sports. I grew up playing softball, volleyball, soccer, and even basketball for a couple seasons. After high school I attended the local junior college, Antelope Valley College, playing 2 seasons of softball and receiving my Associate's degree in 2009. In Fall 2009 I moved up to Monterey, CA to continue my softball career and receive my Bachelor's degree. I graduated from CSUMB (California State University Monterey Bay) in 2012 with my B.S. in Kinesiology- Interdisciplinary Sport Focus (coaching, sports administration, etc.). During the softball seasons of 2011-2012 and 2012-2013, I worked as CSUMB's Softball graduate assistant. I decided to pursue the Strength & Conditioning side of sports and received my NSCA- Personal Training certification in May 2014.
Currently I continue to live in Monterey with my boyfriend Dave, and our dog and cat. I work with a group of Strength & Conditioning professionals called The Alpha Project. We work with training athletes on improving their sports performance and preparing for the next level. I personally am the Strength & Conditioning Coach for a 12u Softball team called the Central Coast Athletics. I really enjoy working with the younger athletes! Outside of strength & conditioning, I enjoy soaking up the Monterey Bay scenery whether it's going to the beach, hiking, the local farmer's markets, etc., I love it all! |
